Hallie welcomes Feed The Peds® alumna Aerica Walsh. As a new mom, Aerica’s experiences with breastfeeding and TOTs led her to dive deeper into the world of pediatric feeding therapy.
In this episode, Aerica opens up about her journey into motherhood, the feeding challenges she faced with her daughter, and how the Certfied Pediatric Feeding Therapist™ (CPFT™) program shaped her approach. She also talks about the importance of gut health and shares her aspirations to start a private feeding therapy practice.
Their conversation sheds light on the power of education for parents and the need for holistic approaches in pediatric feeding therapy.

Pediatric feeding screenings are critical! All pediatric SLPs & OTs should know how to screen, even if you don’t work in ped feeding!
If a child has a speech sound disorder and/or sensory feeding challenges there’s likely an oral motor deficit at play. We need to screen all of our pediatric patients to know if further evaluation is needed. Afterall, if additional services are needed, it’s our job to provide them and help our littlest patients function optimally!
If you’re an SLP or OT (students welcome, too!), join Hallie and thousands of your SLP & OT colleagues for a FREE 3-day training and screen your first pediatric feeding patient. Over 31,170+ SLPs & OTs have already completed this free training. Now it’s YOUR TURN!

It’s wonderful that you both used the experience with your children and looking for answers, and having a hard time, not being prepared enough in school, and just took it on upon yourselves, to explore the area of interest, feeding and swallowing babies and then took it to the public to educate ( private practice) and continue learning yourselves. I felt that way as well with my nephew who had a cleft palate. And now my own breathy voice due to laryngitis…yes, Parents need guidance and coaching (EI).
Parallel Journey.
And of course FEED THE PEDs
thank you Hallie B.
